Zurich New Zealand appointment
Zurich Financial Services Australia (Zurich) today announced the appointment of Alan James to the position of New Zealand Assistant General Manager & Head of Distribution.
Mr James brings extensive international insurance experience to the role, including most recently as Head of Client & Broker Engagement at AIG in New Zealand.
Zurich New Zealand specialises in General Insurance underwriting, risk management, servicing, technical support and claims management, with insurance products spanning small business, motor, marine, liability, financial lines and property.
Adrian Sweeney, General Manager at Zurich New Zealand said: “I am pleased to welcome Alan to the team in New Zealand. His industry experience will be an important asset as we execute on our local priorities and continue to grow.”
Mr James has more than 20 years’ experience across underwriting, portfolio management and client engagement, holding several senior roles across Aerospace and Underwriting in APAC and the United Kingdom.
Mr James said: “Zurich has a strong market presence and reputation for delivering quality outcomes for its customers in New Zealand. I am excited to join the team and further advance this position, building on the deep relationships Zurich has in the local market.”
Mr James will commence in the role on 8 June 2026.
