Benefits for International Travel/Overseas Travel Insurance are not provided for all cards. Please refer to your credit or debit card insurance booklet for a full explanation of the benefits provided and to confirm your eligibility for the insurances.

Insurance as outlined in the relevant policy wording is provided for eligible travellers who qualified for Zurich’s insurance benefits prior to 27 January 2015 and whose travel plans are affected by the storms over the East coast of North America.

International /Overseas Travel Insurance

Insurance provided includes:

  • If your Australian outbound or return journey has been delayed or cancelled as a result of the storms you may be able to claim for:
    • Travel arrangement amendment fees; and/or
    • Reasonable additional accommodation and other reasonable expenses; and/or
    • Cancelled pre-paid and non-refundable overseas travel arrangements.
  • Travellers who have pre-paid arrangements which have been directly affected by the storms may be able to claim for:
    • Reasonable additional accommodation and other reasonable expenses; and/or
    • Cancelled pre-paid non-refundable overseas travel arrangements.
  • Inbound travellers from an overseas location may also be able to claim in relation to missed travel connections and additional accommodations and other related expenses.
  • Cover for insured belongings that are lost or damaged as a result of the storms.

  • Please note that the above information must be read in conjunction with the relevant credit or debit card insurance booklet as certain restrictions and exclusions may apply. Copies of the relevant credit or debit card insurance booklet can be obtained from your card provider or from the Zurich website.
  • All claimants must provide documentation substantiating their loss and course of action ie. letters from providers confirming cancellation/delay and refunds provided for cancelled arrangements etc in addition to normal policy activation documents.
  • Claimants should always attempt to minimise their claim where reasonably possible to do so.
