Zurich and Ausure partner to ensure Australian school students start their day with breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet according to the YMCA, 25% of students come to school hungry. In response to this issue, the YMCA commenced its schools’ breakfast program in 2006.

Zurich has partnered with Ausure delegates at their recent annual conference to get behind this much needed program.

In the 2013/14 financial year, YMCA provided over 342,000 free breakfast meals across 68 schools, feeding over 5,000 school students weekly a nutritionally balanced breakfast. It is expected that the program will provide over 400,000 meals during 2014 and support over 70 schools. The total number of breakfast meals provided since the program commenced in September 2006 is over 1,479,800.

Ausure delegates donated breakfast staples such as milo, peanut butter, cheese spreads, jams and honey to help support the YMCA and in return school children in QLD.

YMCA School’s Breakfast Program Coodinator – Y-CARE, Catherine Hannell recently wrote to express her appreciation for Zurich’s support.

“Thank you so much for providing us with the opportunity to share our passion about the YMCA Schools’ Breakfast Program. We were really excited to see how much food had been donated, and are very much appreciative of your support. The school children will be ecstatic to see all of the yummy food.”
