Zurich appoints Chief Claims Officer within its General Insurance business

SYDNEY, Australia - Zurich today announced the appointment of Tim Scott-Young to the position of Chief Claims Officer within its General Insurance business in Australia and New Zealand.

Tim brings extensive international experience in managing large complex claims and is currently the Senior Vice President and Australian Claims Operations Manager for Marsh Pty Limited.

“We are delighted to have someone of Tim’s calibre join our General Insurance business, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to delivering a world-class claims experience for customers. His broad international claims background will bring a new depth to the claims service and experience we offer customers across a wide spectrum of product lines.” said Tim Plant, Chief Executive Officer, General Insurance (Australia & New Zealand).

Tim has held senior regional claims roles at Chubb Limited including Senior Vice President and Claims Director for its Asia Pacific region and before this, as Claims Director for its Continental Europe region. Tim started his insurance career at AIG where he worked for 21 years, developing extensive experience in Claims to become the Senior Vice President and Chief Claims Officer for the MEA region (Middle East, Africa, Russia, Turkey and India) based in Dubai.

This important appointment comes as Hilary Bates, the current Chief Claims Officer transitions into her new role as Chief Operations Officer for Zurich’s Australian Life & Investments (L&I) business.

“Hilary has created a strong legacy in the delivery of customer-led claims experiences at Zurich, and Tim’s international experience will be critical in further developing this as we continue to adapt and respond to changing customer needs.” Mr Plant continued.

The CCO appointment will become effective on 17 May 2021.

This announcement follows the recent appointment of Suzi Leung to Chief Operations Officer of Zurich’s General Insurance Business, Australia and New Zealand in January this year.
