Looking through a sustainability lens

Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important part of the contemporary investment landscape. Indeed, successful long-term investing depends upon the identification of companies which have sustainable business models and goes hand-in-hand with environmental sustainability.

In this short video, Steve Wreford, Portfolio Manager of the Zurich Investments Global Thematic Share Fund, explains what sustainability means to the Global Thematic Equity team, noting the belief that traditional investment analysis tends to underestimate the risks faced by companies today, particularly their relationship with society as a whole.

The Global Thematic Equity team have an integrated approach to sustainability through a proprietary forward-looking framework. Steve explains the Global Thematic framework and provides a recent example of an important sector where exposure has been reduced in the fund as a result of sustainability concerns.
