Supporting you, your customers and the community

While restrictions start to ease, the economic impacts are being felt in a myriad of ways in homes all across the country. Now more than ever, Australians need support, advice and protection. Together, we're finding new ways to navigate economic impacts and to help customers. We are proud of the new initiatives we have delivered this month to help support you, your customers and the community.

It feels surreal that footy season is also just around the corner; both professionally and at grass roots level. During the isolation periods we were fortunate enough to have senior coaches from Melbourne Football Club speak to our distribution team (virtually) about the importance of mental resilience during these times and the struggles that a professional football club unexpectedly and publicly had to endure. We are expecting a strong season from the Dees this year and are confident the team will be able to deal with the pressures of a new season better than ever before.

Z Zurich foundation, supporting communities

I am really proud that we have so much involvement supporting our Australian communities.

Our Z Zurich Foundation’s COVID-19 disaster response has announced $1.43M community impact funding to support Australian and New Zealand charities in the wake of COVID-19. This funding will be allocated to charities associated with mental and physical wellness, homeless support and food security, and domestic violence under the ZZF’s “wellbeing and inclusion” focus. One of the largest recipients of the local allocation is Foodbank Australia who will receive $1 million.

This is in addition to the $2.28 million to support “hero” community programs and the almost $1 million donated to various charities in the wake of the Australian bushfires earlier this year. Together, we can help our economy and communities bounce back stronger than ever before.

*Reminder* Affordability options to help customers during COVID-19

We have already seen a great response to our affordability options and encourage you to speak to your BDM if you have any questions. You can find all the information you need to support customers experiencing genuine financial hardship during this period here.

We are not stopping there however; we have stood up internal taskforces to look at long term product design to help with both affordability and sustainability measures to ultimately ensure that more Australians can afford quality protection that represents value for money.

Finally, please take some time to read the excellent economic analysis from Matthew Drennan, Head of Savings and Investments at Zurich Investments. His analysis is valuable in unpacking the global landscape looking closely at trends and impacts using both global and local lens. There could be some helpful insights when discussing your client’s strategies.
