Daisy Pearce’s journey in football - and life - is an inspirational one. It’s one which began with her kicking a footy around the backyard and has since seen her become one of the pre-eminent players and leaders in the AFL.
As inaugural captain of the Melbourne Demons AFLW team, she has blazed a trail for all female athletes, establishing herself not just as an elite football player, but also as a healthcare professional, highly respected commentator, sustainability campaigner, and of course mother to two beautiful - and boisterous! - twins, Sylvie and Roy.
Daisy has become an AFL icon. On - field she has done it all, a courageous and skilled player, collecting Best and Fairest awards and All Australian honours on multiple occasions. Off field, she is an insightful and fearless commentator. As one of the most recognised faces, and voices, within the game, she has been instrumental in building the prominence of, and respect for, the AFLW.
Growing up, and now living in the Victorian highlands, Daisy has always felt happiest and healthiest when immersed in nature. And it came as no surprise when, along with Olympic gold medallist Bronte Campbell, and Aussie Cricket captain Pat Cummins, she spearheaded a campaign calling for climate action.
But it is her roles as mother, and qualified midwife, of which she is most proud. Not only bringing new lives into the world, but providing care and guidance, and instilling the confidence in both parents and children to fulfil their potential and to never place a limit on their dreams…
Daisy joined Zurich Australia as an ambassador in August 2021.
