Zurich Account-Based Pension

The Zurich Account-Based Pension is a flexible and convenient way to provide income during retirement in a tax-effective environment. It offers a range of Zurich invested options, including security with minimum withdrawal values for the Cash option. Additional features include an automatic investment adjuster, which changes the investment strategy depending on the age of the investor.

Features

Automatic investment adjuster This is an option that automatically changes the way money is invested as the client gets older to reduce the level of investment risk over time. Clients can select the automatic investment adjuster instead of investing in any of the investment options shown above.

Binding death nominations The Zurich Account-Based Pension offers investors binding death benefit nominations. This provides clients with a flexible way to offer security for their families in the event of their death. The Zurich Super Binding Death Benefit Nomination brochure (pdf 548 kb) may be able to assist you to explain to your clients how binding nominations work.

Minimum withdrawal values - Cash option Zurich agrees to ensure that the unit price of the Cash option will not fall.

Minimum initial investment $20,000

Minimum balance No minimum

Cashing in Clients can withdraw part or all of their balance at any time (tax may apply). If a non-commutable pension (transition to retirement pension) is purchased the capital will not be able to be accessed until a condition of release that does not have a cashing restriction is reached. Note that Zurich is required to ensure that at least the pro-rata amount of the minimum annual income payment has been paid prior to the withdrawal being paid.

Death benefit In the event of death, any balance in the client's account will generally be paid as a lump sum or as a continuing pension to the nominated beneficiary (except where a reversionary beneficiary has been nominated, in which case the regular payments will continue to be made to the reversionary beneficiary). Note that tax may apply to any death benefit payment.
